About the Role
Responsible for the selling and preparation of a range of espresso coffees and some other food products.
Prepares coffee, tea and other beverages to standards.
Sets up working area, displays products and follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing products.
Sets up and operates Espresso machines and other equipment in the work area.
Performs preventive maintenance and cleaning of equipment used to ensure cleanliness, tidiness, and security.
Performs cash handling duties; the incumbent in this position must be able to follow cash handling procedures and cash register policies.
Counts monthly inventory and provides management with supply orders.
Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Performs other related duties assigned.
This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a physical examination.
Must be able to obtain a Food Handler?s Certificate and/or complete food handler?s training.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Food service experience in a coffee shop or restaurant is required. Must be able to follow oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks. Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Ability to resolve common arithmetical problems and make change when receiving payment from customers. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a physical examination. Must be able to continuously stand and walk and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull, or bend for long period of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to communicate with customers and possess skill in dealing with the public.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
